Religion
In New England, a handful of the colonists are Pilgrims, especially near Massachusetts. They are known as Separatists and moved to the colonies just for the sake of practicing their own religion freely. However, the majority of the colonists are Puritans. They meet in meetinghouses for church services, and sit on hard wooden benches for the entire service, which usually lasts the whole day. There is generally no conflict between the colonists regarding religious beliefs, though on should try to avoid conflicting with the church leaders, should they find fault and antagonize you. Before all four colonies were founded, a few rebellious people in Massachusetts protested the Church's teachings. Naturally. they were tried and convicted, so they left and each ended up founding the remaining three colonies.
The mostly peaceful atmosphere in the colonies is in part due to the Mayflower Compact, written in 1620. The very first Pilgrims wrote this agreement in order to officially "combine [themselves] into a political body". They have succeeded, so the New England colonies now have an organized and fair form of government, allowing us to live in undisturbed harmony.
