Economy
On the shores of New England, fish and other seafood are in abundance. In markets, fish fill the stands, contributing greatly to the economy. Since the soil near the ocean is not very nutritional, and the early winters kill crops quickly, some plants such as corn and wheat are still grown, traded, and sold. Farmers don't usually end up harvesting a large amount of crops, so families often plant their own crops in their yards. Though the long and early winters don't provide a substantial amount of time for farming, there is always enough to last the winters.
